Although she stars on a television show that’s known for the cat fights, name calling and extra shade-ful comments, newcomer Demetria McKinney hopes to change the game a bit…or so she says.

Find out what she dished to TheYBF.com about changing the mentality of women inside….

Since making her debut on the BRAVO hit series “Real Housewives of Atlanta” this season, Demetria McKinney has already had her fair share of “reads” and throwing of the shade, largely towards her co-stars Phaedra Parks, Porsha Williams and NeNe Leakes.

But the former “House of Payne” star says she hopes she can change the game up with a little positivity.  And she wants to do so by helping change the mentality of women.

While on the red carpet at the 2015 NAACP Image Awards last week, TheYBF.com caught up with the singer/reality star (who hit the carpet with her boyfriend Roger Bobb) to weigh-in on the current state of African-American friendships amongst women.

“Black female friendships [are] a lost art,” said Demetria. “It’s something that I hope to kinda bring back a little bit in the show. I want to keep it classy, keep it cute, but I’m not going to be anybody’s punk either”.

Hmph.

She then added,

"If I can walk up to you and say ‘O, my gosh you’re gorgeous’ it don’t have to go to ‘Oh, she was trying to sleep with me, why is she like that?’ Why does it have to be that mentality? We have to change our mentality. We have to uplift each other so that the men can jump in and follow suit”.

Good point, but we highly doubt this will get accomplished on the platform that is "RHOA". We all know what reality tv is about.  And the environment the networks & producers create.  And the type of women they choose to cast.

Also on the carpet, TheYBF.comcorrespondent Lauren Smithcaught up with "Scandal's" sexy Scott Foley where he gave our YBF "Jake" fans a shoutout.  Plus, we caught up with other YBF celebs -- Marcus Scribner from "Black-ish", Imani Hakim from the upcoming Chocolate City, Affion Crockett, and the sexy Shemar Moore who all dished on their upcoming projects and their black Hollywod experiences.
