EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Destiny Would Never Do A Fake PR Relationship, So Her Coupledom With Keith Powers Is REAL! Talks Colorism In The Industry & New Music

 photo ryaninterview.png

Ryan Destiny appears to be all wrapped up in love with her new beau Keith Powers. And we know it's real because she told TheYBF.com that she’s not into pulling fake PR stunts (unlike her character on "Star"). Find out what else she told us about colorism in the industry and more…

Well look who’s all boo’d up and living life to the fullest!

That would be young, black and fabulous starlet Ryan Destiny. She’s certainly a breath of fresh air and is making a name for herself as Alexandra “Alex” Crane - the on-screen daughter of Lenny Kravitz& Naomi Campbell - on the hit FOX series “STAR.”

The 22-year-old stunner, who will be celebrating a birthday on January 8th, isn’t one to get all caught up in the weird rules of the entertainment industry. We’ve seen several stars concoct fake relationships for the sake of their career and hoping to get some extra buzz. And we mean SEVERAL.

 photo RyanDestinyTeenChoiceAwards2017ArrivalsUst5bvA1xiwl_zps6fkcezqx.jpg

On “STAR,” her character and Luke James’ character (Noah Brooks) staged a PR relationship after they snapped a picture together and rumors of a relationship started circulating. But Ryan - who's a dead-ringer for an even younger looking Gabby Union, by the way- isn’t that type of chick.

The “STAR” actress dished to TheYBF.com that she's indeed been asked by her own team to create a fake relationship with an athlete or another artist for publicity. But, she declined every time.

“It’s the weirdest thing ever to me,” Ryan explained. “I could never do it. I was like, ‘I can’t do that guys. It’s the weirdest thing.’ So, people actually do it and they’re OK with it, but to each their own.”

 photo ryyanquincy.jpg

At one point, Ryan and her co-star Quincy Brown had us raising our eyebrows as they shared coupledom-style flicks of themselves on their social media. They do play a couple on-screen, so the rumors about an off-screen relationship weren’t that far fetched. Turns out, they’re just really cool…on a platonic level.

“Me and him [Quincy] are cool friends,” she told us.

 photo ryankeith.png

However, she does have a special man in her life. And that would be Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton,“The New Edition Story,” “Tales”), a young actor also making a come up. They have been dating for a few months now.  And we gotta admit, they're adorable.

The lovebirds jetted to Miami to ring in the New Year together and shared their love fest with the world:

When “STAR” premiered, we were excited to see a black woman represent one of the many different shades of African-American women that's often overlooked. As a dark skinned woman, Ryan revealed she experienced colorism at a young age in the industry. Since she started out so young, she didn’t even recognize it in the beginning.

“It’s just like a norm especially with the society we live in. Growing up, it was a thing I didn’t realize until a later age that I was even going through it. I almost felt like I was brainwashed in a way. I didn’t even realize I was being mistreated. I agreed with what a lot of what everyone else thought. I thought being lighter was better and I wanted to be lighter to feel more beautiful. It was something mentally I had to really go through and once it clicked, I felt like I knew what my purpose was.”

Once she realized she wasn’t the only woman going through it, she felt empowered. As much as people like to bash on social media, Ryan said the platforms have actually helped her thanks to an outpouring of love.

“I battle with things just like any other black girl. We just have to stick together. I feel like there is room for all of us. We just have to keep being innovative and showcasing what we can do. We are universal and we are enough.”

Facts!

Chick's glow up hasn't been all great, though.  A few months ago, a report came out that Ryan’s management company, Primary Wave Entertainment, was suing her over unpaid commissions and claims she breached her contract. Well, that’s farthest from the truth. She confirmed her mother is her manager and she had no idea where this story came from.

“I was on set and there were like different tweets coming up. I didn’t even hear it before. I was shocked,” she shared.

“No, they [Primary Wave Entertainment] didn’t [sue her]. Of course we went to my legal team, but no there’s not [a lawsuit]. Plus, my mom is my manger,” she continued.

So there's that.

 photo ryaninterview3.png

So what’s coming down the pipeline for Ryan? New music!  She was in a girl group called Love Dollhouse before her tv stardom popped off.

She’s currently finalizing her debut album, narrowing down which tracks she wants to put on the LP. However, she’ll gift fans with an EP titled, On One’s Own, before she releases her debut project. Ryan said fans can expect some urban, pop, and R&B type vibes from her upcoming musical offering. Nice! We're already here for it.

This YBF chick will return to our television screens when "STAR" returns this Spring.

EXCLUSIVE: Reginae Carter’s Response To Her Beef With Khia Actually Shocked Us

 photo reginae1.jpg

New year, new Reginae Carter? We chopped it up with the “Growing Up Hip Hop” star about her ongoing beef with Khia and her response surprised us. Find out what she said inside…

It’s a new year and it seems Reginae Carter has turned a leaf. Well, she’s working on it.

YBF correspondent Kiara Walker hit the red carpet at the “Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” premiere screening in Atlanta to chop it up with the daughter of Lil Wayne & Toya Wright.

If you haven’t heard, mother-daughter duo Reginae and Toya were recently involved (and possibly still are) in an extra petty beef with rapper Khia. The “My Neck, My Back” rapper came for Toya during her webseries “The Queens Court,” with co-star TS Madison. Not only did she throw shade at Toya, she also said some disrespectful things about Reginae, like calling her a “meal ticket” and said everyone around her calls her the nickname "Call your daddy" since that's the only way she gets her coin. This is all according to Khia, who has been friends with Wayne for years.

 photo reginae2.jpg

As you can imagine, Toya and Reginae clapped back at Khia on social media and the ladies were going back and forth with one another. Well, we had to ask Reginae about the drama and her response surprised us.

We’re shocked she didn’t want to say more about the situation being she (and her mom) had plenty to say on social media. But, maybe this is the first step in her “growing up” journey and becoming more mature. Not mad.

Peep the clip below with YBF's Atlanta Correspondent Kierra where the Clark student also talks about moving in with her co-star Zonnique, becoming a big sister and more:

 photo guh12.jpg

TheYBF.com caught up with the “Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” cast to see what’s in store for season 2 of their reality series. Find out what they told us about their DM struggle, dealing with fans and Zonnique’s dream collaboration inside…

Life for the “Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” cast has been a roller coaster ride for the cast to say the least, and they’re all ready for round 2 of the reality madness.

The entire cast -- Zonnique Pullins, Reginae Carter, Bow Wow, Ayana Fite, Shaniah Mauldin and Brandon Barnes -- was front-and-center for the show’s season 2 screening at the Woodruff Arts Center's Rich Theater in Midtown Atlanta.  YBF ATL correspondent Kiara Walker chopped it up with a few members of the cast to find out what's really going on with them right now.

Watch it all above.

 photo guh11.jpg

As you all know, Zonnique is making waves in the music industry, following in the footsteps of her mother/XSCAPE singer Tiny Harris. As a newbie in the game, she likely has a long list of artists she would love to collaborate with. But, who is her DREAM collaboration?

"Rihanna, for sure," the “Patience” singer told YBF correspondent Kiara. Hmm...we wonder what type of fire track they would come up with.

In case you missed, peep the sexy visuals to her track “Patience” HERE.

 photo reginae1.jpg

Reginae Carter, Lil Wayne& Toya Wright’s daughter, has a lot going on in her life. The 19-year-old is gearing up to be a big sister, she’s moving in with her bestie Zonnique and she has seemingly matured when it comes to clapping back at haters on social media. Check out our exclusive interview with the rap millionaire’s daughter HERE.

 photo guh2.jpg

Star and executive producer Bow Wow rolled up to the event with his rumored new girlfriend Kiyomi Leslie on his arm.

Last season, we saw Bow Wow trying to make things work with his daughter's mom Joie Chavis. But, it's rumored that Joie is now getting close with rapper Future.

 photo guh17.jpg

 photo guh1.jpg

Star Shaniah Mauldin brought her dad Jermaine Dupri (who guest stars on the show) along as her date.

 photo guh16.jpg

Brandon Barnes has some big projects he’s working on that fans will get to see in season 2, including launching his very own record label. He’s also working with developing singer/reality star Jhonni Blaze and he has his own girl group he’s working with as well.

“I didn’t grow up like my other cast members and all that. I’m not rich haven’t been rich plan on being rich. But you know I don’t know what it’s like to get everything I’ve always wanted,” he said. “I wouldn’t say I’ve changed since last season. I’m still me. If anything I think I’m more wiser.”

Speaking of Jhonni Blaze...

 photo jblaze.jpg

We caught up with Johnni Blaze to ask her about that heated scene between her and Bow Wow that was shown in the new season’s trailer. Was it real? Or was Bow Wow showing out for the cameras?

“You will have to tune in and see,” she responded. Of course.

However, she did open up on how it is working on her vocals with Brandon.

“Brandon is family. My manager is Debra Antney. Him working with me and building my voice, it was a blessing to advance my talent with him. I love him to death," she said.

 photo guh14.jpg

Star Ayana Fite hit the carpet with her dad DJ Hurricane.

 photo guh15.jpg

We caught up with the fashion designer who dished on her and her girlfriend’s DM struggle.

“The craziest thing is actually in my girl’s DMs. People be writing Amy and be like ‘That’s my woman. Leave her alone.’ She shows me DMs everyday of people threatening her because she’s my girlfriend.”

Lordt. Can y'all relate?

Singer/actress Demetria McKinney and rapper/radio personality Da Brat struck some poses before heading inside the screening.

EXCLUSIVE DETAILS: Here's Lifetime's Casting Requirements To Play Meghan Markle & Her Family In Upcoming 'Harry & Meghan' Movie

 photo Kick1_zpsp5gvkuhv.jpg

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making their most recent Royal Duties look super fab, and we're hoping their new TV movie that's on the way is just as good.  We've got the exclusive details inside on how Lifetime is casting the first black British Dutchess-to-be and her entire family.

Ugh, they're so freakin' cute.  Prince Harry and fiancee Meghan Markle arrived in Cardiff earlier this week to celebrate the people, culture and heritage of Wales. They toured the historic castle and were treated to readings in Welsh, singing and dancing. And, of course, Meghan was in full on black Princess mode.

 photo Kick2_zpseoksklr4.jpg photo Kick5_zpsi8anf77r.jpg photo Kick3_zpsg0cxc6ns.jpg

Clearly she's already showing she's worthy of the People's Princess title, just like Harry's late mother Princess Diana.

The way they started their courtship is something everybody's been thirsty to find out, so Lifetime is hopping on the opportunity super early.

The network sent out a casting call for an upcoming tv movie When Harry Met Meghan that they describe as "the story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's relationship & engagement."   To play the Dutchess-to-be, Lifetime is looking for a 28 to 35-year-old, "mixed ethnicity female" who "must bear a strong resemblance to Meghan."

For Prince William, it will be a 25 to 35-year-old,British caucasian male. If someone can speak flawlessly in a British accent, they're also here for that.  Lifetime doesn't have the best track record for getting folks who can nail an accent, but we'll see.

In addition to casting Princess Kate & Prince William, the Queen, the whole Royal Family and close friends of the fam, Meghan's whole family may not be incorporated the same way.

The casting call only lists her mother, Doria. The role will be played by an African-American woman in her 50s. She's described as a mother who "has seen it all and has struggled through adversity."  She's also "proud and protective towards her beloved daughter." No word on whether Meghan's talkative siblings or her father will be cast.

The movie starts shooting next month in Vancouver.

EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Coogler ONLY Wants Daughters Now After Shooting 'Black Panther'. Here’s Why.

 photo ryan-coogler-aarp-09feb16-01_zpssvnjzvwa.jpg

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler wants children, but he specifically wants a daughter. In fact, he wants more than one. Find out why inside…

We’re days away before Black Panther invades the box office and director Ryan Coogler has us itching like old weave ready to see it.

YBF correspondent Unique Chapman sat down with the famed director in Washington, D.C. where he opened up about wanting children with his wife Zinzi Evans (pictured below at last night's Wakanda Fashion event in NYC). But, he was very specific whether he wanted a boy or a girl.

 photo RyanCooglerZinziEvansMarvelStudiosBlackmTzCfCPg9Wkl_zpspswl1bjd.jpg

Something about working with the powerful group of women in the movie – including Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright– tugged on his heart and he totally wants girls. And more than ONE. That #BlackGirlMagic was enough to make Ryan want to produce some of his own.

“I found I want daughters real, real bad," he dished to TheYBF.com. "Like plural. I thought, making Fruitvale (Station), I want kids. But like ,on this one, I have to have some daughters."

Wow. He knows what's good for him.

We SO can't wait to see the ladies kick a** in this Marvel film.

 photo ryanblackpanther.jpg

The 31-year-old director said after shooting this movie, he realized African-American and African cultures are a lot alike and that we didn't lose our culture (like he thought) when slaves were brought to America.

“We as African Americans are really, really African. Our African American culture, almost everything we do, is very African. I grew up thinking we had our African culture taken from us, but the truth is we didn’t. We just don’t really know. That was something crazy to find out about myself.”

All the box office hype that's surrounding Black Panther is deafening.  In the best way. The all-black superhero cast (well, mostly black) is about to bring out EVERYONE as it is predicted the film will rake in a record breaking $165 million or more for the four-day President's Day holiday weekend. Earlier, Fandango revealed that advanced movie ticket sales had already set a record for any marvel movie on its first day of online pre-sales.

So basically, if you don't get your ticket early and get there on time, you might miss out.  You've got about 3 days to get your ish together.

EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Coogler Says ‘Black Panther’ Is The Denzel Washington-Will Smith Movie That Never Happened

 photo ryanmovie.jpg

Director Ryan Coogler turned Black Panther into a film he never got to see as a kid. Find out what he told TheYBF.com about how this film measures up to a few Hollywood titans, plus find out how Black Panther took over the box office last night inside…

It’s the BIGGEST movie of the year and we’re only in February. Trust, Black Panther is set to do some amazing things at the box office and we can already see the Oscar nominations to come.

Director Ryan Coogler made sure he created the movie of the year even before we knew it was going to climb to such astronomical heights. We sat down with the 31-year-old film director to pick his brain about all this all black cast came into fruition.

The award winning director told us, for him, Black Panther is like that Denzel Washing/Will Smith movie he never got to see as a kid. He knew THIS was his opportunity to create that magic with stars like Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan on the big screen.

“Coming up in the 90s, we had like three of these male stars that could front any kind of movie,” he told TheYBF.com's correspondent Unique Chapman. “They can act, they can do action, they can be funny, they can be funny. It was Denzel [Washington], it was Will [Smith] and it was Wesley [Snipes] and they were never in a movie together for whatever reason.”

 photo bpmikechad.jpg

“Like for me, this was like the opportunity,” he continued. “Chad can front his own movie. Mike can front his own movie. I had the chance to make that Denzel/Will Smith movie I never got to see.”

Hmm…do you agree? Are Chad and Mike the Denzel and Will of our time? Or, is it too soon? Tell us in the comments.

Meanwhile…

Y'all showed up and showed out for Black Panther's preview last night!

Marvel's superhero film raked in a whopping $25.2 million this morning, making it the 2nd best Thursday preview ever for a Marvel film following Avengers: Age of Ultron ($27.6M). Black Panther beat out Captain America: Civil War, which brought in $25 million. Woot!

Here's a look at how real-life YBFers are killing it at the theaters.  Extra AF, and we love it:

EXCLUSIVE: Michael Blackson Is NOT Nixing This Kevin Hart Beef, Desperately Asking ANYONE To Train Him To Fight Kev

 photo blacksonkevin.jpg

Michael Blackson breaks down his beef with Kevin Hart to TheYBF.com, BUT he clearly forgot to use that (much stronger) accent Kev has been saying is fake. Hear what the comedian sounds like without his signature accent, plus find out how he’s trying to find anyone to help him train to “fight” his fellow Philly comedian inside..

Comedian Michael Blackson, who's from Philly by way of Ghana, has been coming at Kevin Hart’s neck ever since his whole cheating scandal hit the fan. The Philly comedian has been going in on Kevin via social media non-stop and it got to a point where Kevin got upset and addressed Mike’s jabs during an interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club.” He was mad that Mike would use a situation that's so sensitive to him to crack jokes about.

Since the Jumanji star addressed Mike, that hasn’t stopped him one bit. In fact, he has been using Kevin quite a bit for his online material.

YBF Correspondent Shayla Raye caught up with the comedian on the carpet during BET’s inaugural Social Awards to ask him what’s really good between him and his fellow Philly comedian.

Watch what he told us above.

Now...

 photo mblackson2.png

Mike is seemingly trying to take his beef with Kevin OFF social media and in these streets...but not really. He hit up a mutal friend, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, to ask him if he would train him to fight Kevin. See their exchange above and below.

 photo mblackson3.png

The Rock said he's not getting involved because he's cool with the both of them.

"Ok you muscle face, steroids taking, I get dumbbells for Christmas looking beech i will find a new trainer and when I’m done with that little neega he’s going to smell what the rock is cooking modasucka," Mike captioned.

However, that' STILL hasn't stopped Mike. He hit up boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and KO High Boxing founder Marvin Columbus for some training tips as well:

They've been engaged for 7 years, and they're surprisingly still together, considering last time we checked, Chrissy wanted to be married already.  We've got an exclusive sneak peek at Jim Jones& Chrissy Lampkin on "Marriage Bootcamp" inside...

Jim & Chrissy went and joined “Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars Family Edition” to get their relationship in order.  But Mama Jones is STILL the center of their problems it seems.

The rapper says he's stuck in between his Mama, Nancy, and fiancé of 7 whole years, Chrissy Lampkin.

Chile...

Yeah, we've seen it all before.  Numerous times.  On numerous shows.  But the couple claims (again) this is their last resort.

In our exclusive sneak peek of the season premiere, the producers have Nancy shacking up in Jim & Chrissy's bedroom in order to get to the bottom of why she's at the center of their issues.

We mean, we ALL know why.  Not sure why Jim & Chrissy seem in a constant state of baffled, though, when it comes to their semi-functional relationship.

Check it:

Yeah, we don't see this ending well.

Here's what else is going down:

This season, “Teen Mom” OG star, Amber Portwood, her fiancé Matt Baier and mother Tonya are stuck in a vicious cycle of anger and tabloid scandals and enter Boot Camp as their last resort.  “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” wild child, Brandi Glanville, uncorks her rosé and unleashes her vices to get attention and acceptance from her embarrassed father, Guy. The mob is coming to blow the house down when Boot Camp veteran, Renee Graziano, and her sisters Jenn and Lana, descend upon the compound grounds with years of resentment and pent-up rage.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Dirty Cop' Cory Hardict Gives His Take On Armed Teachers In Schools, Then Serves Up #DadGoals

 photo CoryHardrictEntertainmentWeeklyHostsCelebrationmFH9GAcOhBrl_zpscuzi51ty.jpg

Cory Hardrict plays a dirty cop in the new series “The Oath.” He dishes to TheYBF.com about his new role and how it ties into the teachers with guns debate. Also, the soon-to-be new dad again let’s his softer side show, serving up all #DadGoals feels. Get it all inside…

Cory Hardrict is gearing up for the release of Crackle’s new crime thriller, “The Oath,” executive produced by 50 Cent. And it’s going to be a good one.

The 10-episode series explores a world of gangs, but this isn’t your usual gang movie. These gangs are made up of those sworn to protect and defend and sheds light on corrupt and secret societies that are nearly impossible to join—only a select few make the cut—but once inside, members will do what they must to protect each other from enemies on the outside and from within their own ranks.

Cory will play a dirty cop named Officer Cole Hammond. His character is a “cop whose cool and composed demeanor conceals an underlying sense of paranoia. Raised by white foster parents, Hammond is fueled by an intense dedication to protect the only family he has ever had — putting him at odds with the other members of the Ravens gang.”

“The Oath” will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the corruption that runs rampant in police departments. And a lot of it is based on actual facts. Former Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Halpin, who was involved in a police gang while on the force, created the series and was very hands on during production.

Now that he’s on a show exposing cops, gangs and social injustices, and he has a son he’s sending to school everyday, we had to ask him how he felt about the current climate of school safety with reports of school shootings and whether or not he believes teachers should be armed in schools.

“I’m more conscious with him, going to school and coming home,” Cory tells TheYBF.com about sending his 6-year-old son Cree Hardrict to school everyday. “He’s in private school but it can happen anywhere. It’s tough in today’s world. All I can do is keep faith and pray.”

As for how he feels about teachers having guns in school, he's absolutely against it. He says politicians need to be more concerned about putting human lives first before anything else. We def agree with him there.

 photo cory3.jpg

Not only does he have to worry about his son, he'll also be daddy to a baby girl soon as his wife Tia Mowry Hardrict is pregnant with their second child. It’s been a tough road for them to get pregnant with baby #2 as Tia has had fertility issues. But, Cory has always remained positive that things will work out as they should.

“I just keep it in prayer,” he says about Tia’s fertility complications. “I pray about everything and just know what’s meant to be will be and will work out. I wasn’t worried because I knew one day it would happen if it were supposed to. It affected me, but it kind of didn’t because I knew it would all work out. “

The Hardricts are still juggling names for the new baby. However, the American Sniper actor made it clear he wants his daughter to "have a name with strength and power." She's due May 5th!

He reveals having a daughter has him letting his guard down more and showing his softer side. His eyes even water up when he thinks about having a baby girl. Aww! #DadGoals

As for how the Brotherly Love star juggles being a husband, a father and his career, he seems to have it all figured out.

“A lot of traveling back and forth and a lot of Facetiming,” he tells us.

He says his family will come out to wherever he is shooting scenes and he travels back home a lot. Cree even comes on set with him sometimes. Cute.

EXCLUSIVE: Laticia Rolle Opens Up For The First Time - Boyfriend Shaq 'Rushed' Her Into Creating The LBD For Hats + Why He's Totally Going To Marry Her

Laticia Rolle is about to change up the hat game for women. And she can thank her beau for the inspiration.

For the first time ever, the Hat Queen dishes to TheYBF.com about meeting boyfriend (not fiancé...yet!) boyfriend Shaq, advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, and how she bounced back from getting scammed!

Over the last few years, it seems NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has found love and every time we see him with his longtime girlfriend Laticia Rolle, he always appears to be in great spirits.

But, we haven’t learned much about their relationship….until now.

TheYBF.com chopped it up with lifestyle blogger/author/inspirational speaker and TRESS creator Laticia Rolle about her whirlwind romantic relationship with an NBA icon, plus her innovative TRESS hat that’s going to change the game for women who love big hair.

We first noticed Shaq getting cozy with Laticia during his birthday bash in 2014. Since then, the lovebirds have been madly in love enjoying life together. But, we’ve never heard how these two became a couple.

 photo LR2.png

The 30-year-old entrepreneur and the 46-year-old NBA analyst were both at an event in Miami 5 ½ years ago. Laticia told us Shaq just walked up to her and sparked a conversation. He then whipped out a picture of a baby with blue eyes and asked her if they could “make one of these.”  He spit that game, telling her he saw her eyes from a mile away and was mesmerized.

So here’s where things got tricky. Laticia wasn’t in a relationship at the time, but she was dating. The guy she was dating was actually at the event as well. Shaq wasn’t feeling that, so he walked up to the guy and told him, “You’re not going to be talking to her anymore.” The guy responded, “Yes I am. I’m going to marry her.”

Then, Shaq responded, “No you’re not. I am.”

Ever since then, these two have been joined at the hip.

Things started to serious in 2014, around the time of his birthday in March. After making it official, Laticia figured out she had a problem and wanted to create something to fix it. A lot of times she and Shaq would leave the house, he’d rush her to get out of the house. Y’all know how our men do us.

Sometimes, you just want to grab a hat to cover your undone hair, but when you have textured or big hair (or weave/wiggery for that matter), it’s super hard to find a hat that fits! We can relate to that struggle.  And so did Laticia.

“It really started when I was getting ready to leave with my boyfriend and he was rushing me," she tells TheYBF.com. "And I went to go grab a hat because I didn’t have time to do my curls. I was just like, ‘I need to make it happen because I can’t deal with this.”

But, that’s not an issue anymore thanks to her TRESS hat. Laticia created an eco-friendly hat designed specifically for women with thick, curly and textured hair.

“I also knew that I wanted something all women would wear," she said. "You know like a little black dress, I wanted a little black hat.”

TRESS is made from black vegan leather that you can throw on no matter where you’re going. It also has built in elastic and a satin lining to keep your hair protected.  Satin INSIDE the hat to protect your hair. Game changer!

 photo LR4.png

The process to creating a hat for everybody' head wasn’t easy.

“Getting it off the ground was a struggle,” Laticia told TheYBF.com. “100% honest. There wasn no easy route.”

 photo LR3.png

The lifestyle blogger, who majored in Business Management and Communication at Eckerd University, suffered a few L's before she was able to get her hat company off the ground.

“I started to brainstorm with my sister. I found this company that would design the prototype. Girl, I lost $3,000. When you’re doing this entrepreneur thing, you have a little bit of money saved, and you’re using your own money and I didn’t know what I was doing.”

“I had my design drawn up. And then the designers went ghost. This was after I paid my payment. They were nowhere to be found. They were supposed to send me samples in two months and nothing never came in.”

She hopped on another opportunity while on a trip to China, where she also came up with the name and vegan angle:

“I told myself I had to do something. So, I’m in China and I meet this amazing couple who are hat designers. This is a true story. They were really sweet, really cool. I love their kids. I thought ‘This is great. Maybe I can pitch what I’m doing and we can create a partnership.’ The same thing happens! We sent designs back and forth.

"Now, I came up with the name: TRESS. People don’t know what TRESS means. It means a long lock of hair. People were asking me all the time why I did I say TRESS. When we have hair, we need it to be protected at all times. My baby cousin made the logo for me because now I have to stay within in my means. I finally got a sample back from the people in China. I got the sample finally made. I figure out the satin lining material I wanted. I figured out I wanted vegan leather because I love animals.”

But she quickly discovered, it was a scam!

“I said let me order 500 hats and see what happens. Long story short, I put in an order with this couple and then they disappeared after I sent them $3,000. So now I’m $6,000 in the hole with no hats.”

 photo LR1.png

One day, Shaq and Laticia go to a friend’s wedding where she pitched her idea, and the rest is TRESS history.

“So now I have a sample and now I need a manufacturer. Actually there was a wedding, it was our friend’s wedding and he actually has a hat company. So I was like ‘Hey Michael. Nobody gets it. If you’re not a woman and you don’t have textured hair then you don’t get the struggle of trying to wear a baseball cap.'

People don’t get it, especially men. Michael was looking at me like I’m crazy. So he kind of threw me off to his guy, but I’m so glad he did. I finally found a person to connect me with a manufacturer. I finally was able to create TRESS. It took three years.”

Laticia started working on her hats in January 2015 and was able to release it to the masses in December 2017. Must be nice.

So, anyone looking to build a brand or looking to become an entrepreneur, Laticia's advice is to “find your passion and let it fuel you.”

 photo LR5.png

Now that she has her business and her man…are kids and marriage something she’s looking forward to? Yep.

Engagement rumors started circulating in October 2017 when she posted a picture on her Instagram of them together (atop) rocking a HUGE diamond ring on THAT finger. Well, they’re not engaged…YET.

“We are not engaged, yet,” she told us. “I have a lot of diamond rings. Shaq buys me a lot of diamonds. I didn’t realize people were going to acknowledge that. I just thought it was a great picture.”

Laticia said she would love to have kids, especially after seeing how amazing a father Shaq is to his children.

“At least 2,” she spilled. “I come from a family of 5. So yeah, at least two.”

Their hesitation to have kids or get married likely has nothing to do with any tension with Shaq’s ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal as they don’t converse.

From the sounds of it, Laticia and Shaq may have some big announcements this year. *hint hint*

Check out TRESS to cop your own LBD hat.

Soon as Jim Jones started to feel like being on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition” was a waste of time, his fiancée Chrissy Lampkin hits him with some truth serum. Catch the sneak peek before tonight’s episode inside…

Rapper Jim Jones, his fiancée of 7 years Chrissy Lampkin and his mother Mama Jones have been working through their family issues on the latest season of “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition.” And we've got a sneak peek at how they're doing.

In tonight's episode, the Dipset rapper appears to have had enough of all of the “work” they’ve been putting in during “bootcamp.” He made it known to the counselors that all of the exercises they have them doing aren’t working.

“You’re not doing nothing that’s substantial to what me and my family came here for,” he told them.

Well, Dr. Ish whipped out the big guns, revealing a clip of Chrissy pouring her heart out about how hard she has worked to save their relationship over the years and how she's tired of feeling like she has to constantly prove herself worthy of being with Jimmy.

It seems that was enough to get the NYC rapper in his feelings and motivated to actually do the “work" to save his family.

Peep the clip below:

See it all go down TONIGHT on “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition” at 9pm EST on WETV.

EXCLUSIVE: Keke Palmer Tells Us How She Really Feels After Getting Ridiculed For Revealing Her Own #METOO Situation

Keke Palmer was saying “ME TOO” before #METOO was a movement. And she caught some heat for it. However, she tells TheYBF.com that she’s never going to stop using her voice to speak out against injustices. Find out what else the YBF chick dished, including her new role on “STAR” inside…

Singer. Actress. Dancer. Activist. Role Model.

Whether you like it or not, Keke Palmer is a force to be reckoned with. She stays booked and is always feeding her fans something new even when she doesn’t have a huge project coming down the pipeline. Just look at her timeline on Instagram.

The 24-year-old outspoken Snapchat queen, who popped up on the acting scene as a kid in Akeelah and the Bee, will be reprising her role in Lee Daniels’“STAR” Gigi, a “ratchet and rich” pop diva.

TheYBF.com got the chance to chop it up with Keke about her role, but we also touched on some more personal topics.

 photo KekePalmerSeenAroundFebruary2018NewdyLF6JB-1nGl_zpsimzqm6vc.jpg

The #METOO movement rocked Hollywood to its core with droves of women speaking out about how they were sexually assaulted by high powered men. Before the #METOO movement started making waves, Keke spoke out about her own #METOO situation before it became a cool hashtag. And she caught a lot of heat for it.

“Yeah I did. [I’ve definitely] been put in uncomfortable situations being preyed on as a woman. I spoke out about it. I spoke out about it and I was ridiculed for it. At the end of the day, that’s what we have to do. We have to speak up and set boundary lines even if the whole world is against us. And in time, all things done in the dark will come to light.”

In January 2017, Keke sounded the alarm on Trey Songz misogynistic ways. The “Scream Queens” alumna accused Trigga of using “sexual intimidation” to coerce her into appearing in his remix with Fabolous, Travis Scott and Young Thug, titled “Pick Up The Phone.”

She said she hid in a closet to avoid anymore conflict after she verbalized she did NOT want to be in the video. Once they assured her she would NOT be in the video, she said they secretly recorded her anyway.

After Keke peeped the video, she blasted Trigga in a few Instagram posts, writing (in part), “Come on bruh, I clearly said no and you said okay, yet I was being secretly filmed when you told me "let me just show you the idea"?? Wow. This is what I'm referring to in my previous post, this is the sexism and misogyny I refer to because if I was a dude, he wouldn't have even tried me like this.”

Shortly after, the R&B crooner decided to issue a statement denying Keke’s account of what happened.

“I will say I never truly experienced anything like that other than that situation,” KeKe told TheYBF.com. “I felt like it was important for me to let other young women know that these things are going to happen to you no matter who you are. No matter how much respect you think you deserve. No one gives a sh*t.”

And she’s right. Now, we as women have to be more vigilant and be sure we teach our young girls how to say NO and that speaking out about sexual assault is the right thing to do.

Sometimes it’s hard for artists who came into this entertainment shindig at such a young age to transition from being just a kid entertainer.  Keke most def knows about that. Often times, handlers like to keep the artists in a box and will not allow the artist to explore their full capacity of creativity. So now, she's on her boss ish.

“Yes. I feel like have been boxed before, but more so in terms of having an audience. Sort of like the same situation, not being based on my skin tone, but being based on my audience that people then tried to control what I sound like without realizing I have a fanbase of a variety of different people. So, a lot of times these people don’t really understand what your fans really love you for, how you can grow creatively and what really represents you. A lot of times they’re just looking at what is easiest for them to market.”

When she realized her label wasn’t going to put out music and projects she wanted to release to her fans, she found ways to do it herself.

“I just kept fighting and started investing in myself. When they didn’t want to promote the things I wanted to promote, I found a way to get it done myself. You have to find ways to empower yourself and not always have your hand out.”

Speaking of singing…

We asked Keke if she had to form a trio group with one legend (dead or alive) and a new singer, who would it be?

“Me, Left Eye and….,” she responded. “Hell, just me and Left Eye. All the people I’m thinking of, I can’t see them either outside the group they’re in or I would rather see them alone than in a group.”

 photo KekePalmerMACCosmeticsCelebratesJeremyGNXT1jG2LFQl_zpsv4m6sllb.jpg

Keke will return to “STAR” tonight to reprise her role as Gigi. She told us Lee Daniels created her role specifically for her after she expressed to him how she wanted to do something on the show. She said this character is more like her than some of her previous characters, except Gigi is a heightened version of herself.

By the way, she drew inspiration from fellow actresses Jackée Harry, Jenifer Lewis, Raven Symone and Whoopi Goldberg.  Makes sense.

“I do have some different ups and downs with the character Gigi that you’ll see later on in the season. Right now, you’re seeing more of that sillier, dramatic, extra diva type personality. And I can definitely relate to that in a fun way, not diva in a bad way.”

Tune in to “STAR” for the spring premiere of the current season, 9pm EST on FOX.

In the meantime, peep her new "BOSSY" visuals for the show below:

EXCLUSIVE: Keke Palmer Totally Relates To Beyoncé Making Major Career Moves That Mom Advised Against

 photo kee5.png

Keke Palmer says she can totally relate to Beyonce when it comes to making major decisions about her career without moms' co-sign. And she explains the idea of artistry flawlessly.  Find out what she tells TheYBF.com inside…

When it comes to artistry, folks might not always get it. We know plenty of the white faces in the audience during Beyonce’s historic Coachella performancedidn’t fully understand the unapologetic black greatness that was unfolding in front of their eyes. It was evident in their response to the performance as she put on for the culture.

They didn’t get it.

 photo kee4.png

After Bey’s performance, her mother, Tina Lawson, opened up about warning Bey that she didn’t think the predominately white crowd would understand the significance behind her performance. However, Mrs. Carter didn’t care.

Mama Tina said Bey’s brave response made her feel a bit “selfish” and “ashamed.” Bey told her mother she had to do that performance because at this point in her career, it's her responsibility to do whats best for the world, and not what is most popular.

Singer/actress Keke Palmer can totally relate. Especially since her and her mother are super close and her mother is a big part of her career as a momager.

YBF correspondent James Terrellchopped it up with Keke (below, posing alongside Stephen Hill) during her private album listening party for The Boss at New York's 40/40 club this week.

 photo kee1.png

With a seemingly similar mother-daughter dynamic like the Knowles (KeKe doesn't move two steps without her ride-or-die mama right by her side), we had to ask the quadruple threat if she could relate to Bey in any way when it comes to making career moves your mom doesn’t necessarily approve. Here’s what she dished:

“Me and my mom be doing stuff like that all the time,” she told TheYBF.com. “I think that’s how it should be. Well, not should be, that’s how it is. Because your parents, family and friends, they overthink all of your decisions. But you, as an artist, have to go with your heart.”

The 24-year-old entertainer said she didn’t expect anything less from Beyonce’s performance because she’s supposed to have people feel something with whatever she presented before them.

“Beyoncé is SUPPOSED to do stuff like that that makes people be like ‘Are you sure?’ Otherwise, she's not doing anything risky or something that’s going to make people really feel something. So whether people feel shocked, confused or ‘Girl, you did it,’ it’s going to be something that’s going to make them more intrigued by the performance."

The “BOSSY” singer thought Bey’s performance was brilliant since now, people who didn’t know about HBCUs or Greek life will start researching to gain knowledge all thanks to the Queen. It's similar to the way “A Different World” was received in the 80's.

“Even if people watching the performance had no concept of HBCUs or fraternity/sorority lifestyle, they’re now going to give a shit. They’re now going to at least say ‘Let me look into that to know what she was talking about.’ That’s what artistry is,” the Star actress said.

Spot on, Keke.

EXCLUSIVE: Romeo Miller Drops Gems About Men Being AFRAID Of Powerful Women, Says Beyonce Did Coachella Better Than Any Man

 photo romeointerview.png

Romeo Miller just gets it! It’s clear he’s insanely in love with black women and he’s not afraid to show it. Yes, despite his ex who lacked melanin.

The hottie chopped it up with TheYBF.com and he dropped some gems on us that instantly became the best choice of words from a man all year.

We’ve known him since he was a kid when popped up on the music scene dropping his self-titled album Lil Romeo in 2001. But, Lil Romeo isn’t “lil” anymore.

Romeo Miller is a grown a** man now. One who loves and has a deep appreciation for women. It’s clear his dad Master P and his mother Sonya Miller raised him right, despite their rough split. And it doesn't hurt that he's fine AF.

Like the rest of us, Romeo was WOWED by Beyonce’s groundbreaking, game-changing COACHELLA performance. He said seeing Mrs. Carter slay the stage with the explosive #BlackExcellence theme was so inspiring and he declared Bey rocked the stage ten times better than any man ever could.

 photo beyqueen.png

“Seeing Beyonce perform at Coachella is probably the most inspired I’ve been in a long time,” Romeo tells TheYBF.com.“Even with music, I’ve been away from music for a while because a lot of people lost the art of it. And seeing Beyonce perform, it was so inspiring. To see such a powerful and strong woman do it ten times better than any man."

"I really felt this Coachella was about the women. Seeing SZA up there, Vanessa Williams'daughter Lion Babe, Dej Loaf– I feel like they took over Coachella and we need more than that.”

The "Famous In Love" star went on to say how men are sometimes afraid of powerful women, despite vocalizing that’s what they want in their lives. Ladies, y’all know how they do.

“I feel a lot of men nowadays, they say they want a strong woman and a powerful woman then when they come across them they are kind of afraid. I got four little sisters. The way that men go out and they’re independent, so why shouldn’t a woman be that way? I just want more women to have that mind frame cause Beyonce said it best ‘Who run the world? Girls!’ We’re only here because of a woman.”

HE GETS IT! And he has a message for the ladies longing to find and man and live happily ever after.

“Don’t be afraid to be strong. Don’t be afraid to be independent. A real man is going to be there and understand and you’re going to build an empire. You see that’s what Beyonce been doing.”

Facts only.

Beychella has even inspired Romeo to get back to his own music after neglecting it for a while.

“I stayed away from music because people were around me for the wrong reasons and it wasn’t about the art and magic of it. It was more about the money. Like I said, watching Beyonce definitely inspired me to come back and give what I got because I have so much to give. I really do have a uniqueness that fills a void. It’s kind of like that gap in the middle. You have Drake coming out, you have Cole, I feel like I’m like literally right in the middle of both of those guys.”

Speaking of Drake and J. Cole, both artists are dropping new album in the coming weeks (Cole’s has already been released). We wanted to know whose album will he be bumping the most this summer and he explained to us why he will be vibing out to both of their LPs.

“Why can’t it be both? Those are my two favorite artists. It’s kind of like a Michael Jackson and a Prince where two people are so talented and so monumental but they’re different. There’s enough space for everybody."

"When it comes to music, we put each other against each other, but there’s so much room because everybody is going through something different in life. And you never know what you’ll get from a certain artist. Drake may have more fun, uplifting songs where as Cole may have something where it’s just in a moment in your life where you want to think.”

The former USC baller confirmed he will drop a new project next month and already has released new music as he gears up to drop it. He said he’s about to release a new track titled “Real One” and he also has a song called “Islands” featuring his dad Master P. He plans on reaching out to Lil Wayne to hop on the track to “get that Down South music back.”

As for his other projects, Romeo is the host of the new MTV dating show, “EX On The Beach.” The show is a social experience that features 10 romantically embattled reality stars who will go on dates with everyday singles. While they’re on their date in paradise, they’ll be blindsided by their ex (or in some cases multiple exes) face-to-face. Lordt!

Watch Romeo try and keep the peace when a new episode airs tonight at 9pm EST on MTV.

EXCLUSIVE: 'Relationship Guru' Romeo Miller Says Angela Simmons Gives Him BABY FEVER + Rihanna Broke His Heart

 photo rom1.png

Romeo Miller says Angela Simmons just does something to him every time he sees her. And he’s dishing on the current status of their…”situationship.” Find out what the “EX On The Beach” host tells TheYBF.com about his “connection” with Angela, plus why he’s the ultimate relationship guru inside…

Romeo Miller and Angela Simmons go waaaaay back.  We’ve been following them since the two were first rumored to be a couple. And we continue to see their dynamic on the WEtv series “Growing Up Hip Hop.” It’s obvious the two have some type of connection, even when they’re both in relationships with other people.

 photo rom3.png

TheYBF.com caught up with the “EX On The Beach” host to find out what’s really good between him and the new mom. And apparently, it’s kinda hot and heavy. Well, kind of.

 photo rom2.png

During Coachella Weekend, Angela hopped on Instagram and posted a steamy video of herself flossing in a black bikini while taking a dip in the pool. We know he saw it, so we had to ask what he thought about it.

Chun-Li #FullyDrenched #shifttocoachella

A post shared by Angela Simmons (@angelasimmons) on

“I suddenly got baby fever for some reason,” Romeo shares with TheYBF.com.” Angela is definitely a MILF. She’s doing her thing.”

Hmph.

So, is she BAE or nah?

"Me and Angela are like reading not one book, not two, but a whole damn trilogy,” he explains. “I think it’s rare in this generation where you have someone where you have such a good connection with and it doesn’t have to be, ‘I’m yours and you’re mine.’ Me and Angela, we get each other, we understand each other. We have amazing chemistry. I can’t see the future, but whatever happens will happen. She’s somebody who gets me, and I get her. Whatever happens will happen.”

Oh? A relationship does sound promising between the two though, at least from his standpoint.

Romeo is certainly a charmer and a smooth talker, so it came as no surprise when he says he’s “cool” with ALL his exes. (yeah, he's one of those.) And his reason why makes us crush on him even harder.

“Honestly, I’m cordial with all my eyes. If somebody was in my life, I have this philosophy that you were in my life for a reason. It may not have meant for you to be there forever, but you were in my life for that season and you have to learn your lesson. The thing is, if you don’t learn your lesson then you have to keep learning it and I feel like that’s where you mess up. So, I’m cordial with any woman who has ever crossed paths with me.”

So mature.

With this way of thinking, it proves why all his friends come to him for advice, especially relationship advice. Romeo likes to think of himself as the “New Dr. Phil” and we’re not mad. His outlook on life is A1.

“Even just growing up in this industry, I just learned that dealing with people a certain way, it goes a long way just to treat everybody with love and respect no matter if they hurt you, no matter if they stabbed you in the back, no matter what they did. I feel as a human we have to make sure we always choose to do the right thing.”

“I call myself the ‘New Dr. Phil’ because since first grade people would come up to me asking for relationship advice. You can’t give too much energy to the negative. If someone is trying to drain you and they’re bringing negatively, my advice is you just have to keep looking forward. The past is the past for a reason. You get in trouble when you keep playing with fire."

“Timing is everything too.”

He said sometimes God will put people in your life in front of you that may be yours, but it may not be yours at that moment. You have to be patient. You may have to build and work harder for it.

He's not cocky, but he has no problem giving himself a Kanye-pat when the moment calls for it, as we all should, honestly.

“I want anybody who crosses paths with me to become a better person. I think I make my exes better. Not being cocky, I just feel like that’s our job. Every relationship is to learn how to be a better you and then help that person.”

 photo romeorihanna.png

Heartbreak is always tough. It’s even worse when it’s from Rihanna.

"Man, Rihanna broke my heart like 3 times!”

The “Famous In Love” star tells us meeting Rihanna at the Kid’s Choice Awards is one of his most vivid memories as a kid. Apparently, he had a chance to shoot his shot, but he declined. It happened when he was about 15-16-year-olds and they linked up at a Kid’s Choice afterparty.

“I’m young, so I really don’t know how to deal with girls yet. I know my name Romeo, but I’m like 15-16,” he shares. Rih asked him if he was going to take her number and he said…no.

“I’m kind of pissed off.  I was so focused on my career and not chasing girls at that time. Me and Rihanna could have been something. We could have been Double R.”

Ha!

Romeo hosts MTV’s “EX On The Beach” on Thursday at 9/8c and on “Growing Up Hip Hop” when the new season premieres May 24th on WEtv.

An Angela Simmons and Romeo Miller re-link up is super possible, at  least it seems that way in the new season of "Growing Up Hip Hop."  We've got the exclusive sneak peek at season 4 inside, which also includes Boogie Dash's intervention.

We've never been mad at a Romeo & Angela link up.  Now that they're both single, it looks like it could happen (again).  The twosome are good friends, but are clearly getting a lil boo'd up in he upcoming season of "Growing Up Hip Hop."

Angela opens up for the first time about a devastating breakup and facing public scrutiny. She says she can't get away from Romeo OR Bow Wow, but it's Romeo who is right there to make it all better...

Yeah, it could all be for the cameras.  But even our jaded-to-publicity-stunts selves can see a spark.  And we're kinda feeling it.

Also on season 4, Dame Dash's son Boogie hasn't controlled his drinking, so his friends - mainly Briana Latrise (Mary J. Blige’s stepdaughter) - are staging an intervention.  Those same friends have their own drama, including getting out of their famous parents' shadow. And dealing with a surprise pregnancy.

This Season, Vanessa Simmons yearns to be closer to her sister, Angela, but new business opportunities lead to a dramatic, sibling rivalry.

Romeo Miller (Master P’s son) finds himself chasing after the ‘one that got away’ to running to New Orleans with his pops to save an incarcerated family member who goes on a hunger strike! Meanwhile, Damon “Boogie” Dash’s (Damon Dash’s son) addiction spirals out of control when his little sister’s life becomes endangered.

With her checkered family history, Kristinia DeBarge (James DeBarge’s daughter) musters the courage to meet with her long-lost cousin Kyndall Ferguson (El DeBarge’s daughter) while she plans a life changing move to Vegas to further her music career. Tyran Moore (Sandra “Pepa” Denton’s son) comes to visit his mother to mend broken ties, and unleashes years of pent up resentment growing up under her fame in family therapy.

Egypt Criss (Pepa Denton’s daughter) has a new beau, but not everyone trusts his intentions with the princess of hip hop, including Egypt’s cousin, Tahira “Tee Tee” Francis. We're also wondering if Egypt is pregnant herself....

Oh, and there's a shotgun wedding in Vegas that shocks everybody!

Season 4 of "GUHH" premieres Thursday, May 24 at 9pm ET/PT on WE TV.

So, about that messy tour of Toni Braxton's where she allowed for her own sister to get fired, likely because of her other sister...

We've got an exclusive sneak peek at how Traci learned her own family may have flipped on her.

Last month, news broke that Toni had ixnayed her own sister, Traci, from her new tour.  And folks were trying to figure out who was to blame.

Throughout this season of "Braxton Family Values" so far, we've learned that Traci, along with sisters Towanda and Trina, are suing sister Tamar's estranged husband Vincent Herbert over rights & ownership of the "BFV" theme song.  Apparently, the sisters learned Vince filed papers to put all publishing rights in his name, and he now has ownership over the song they wrote and sang. Sneaky.

While it initially seemed that lawsuit was the reason Traci may have been dropped, since Vince is pulling strings on Toni's tour due to Tamar also being on it, there's more to the story.

On tonight's episode of "BFV," Traci receives news from her manager Cliff that both Toni and Tamar may not want to have Traci on the upcoming tour. It's not just Vince.

Traci's not ere for her own family flipping on her, especially Tamar (who has since been fired from the tour as well, allegedly.)  And she calls up her sister to confront her.

"BFV" airs tonight on WE TV at 9p ET.
